Churches of Ercolano
Saint Salvatore's Church
The city of Herculaneum is known for some very beautiful churches,
masterpieces of ancient and modern art.
The well-known Papal Basilica of Santa Maria a Pugliano, in the
square of the same name, was founded during the year 1000 and
preserves within it some true masterpieces from the Angevin era and
two sarcophagi from the Roman era.

The Church of Santa Caterina, also along Corso Resina, is a
beautiful expression of nineteenth-century art.
On the slopes of Vesuvius the Church of the Savior is still
preserved, a work from the 1600s which flanks the well-known
